Open Jam Night at 8Teen Center

Malistad said...
It's not too often musicians or artists get an opportunity to display a true reflection of their craft in an environment such as the 8teen center. In a world that is uncaring and despondent there are still people with passions and ideas and this was a most memorable night. Thank you to ALL the artists and especially Mac for hosting the show and recognizing the need for cultural expression in the San Diego communities. Much love, Jason FROM THE BAND MALISTAD! haha can't forget that. great night great show!

The Great Acoustic Showcase

HOWDY YA'LL!!

The Great Acoustic Showcase was a successful event!! We had over 80 people show up to listen to some of San Diego’s Best local Acoustic artists. It started of with a bang when Mod For Marq opened the show. He got everyone in the mood for what was to come the rest of the evening. Andrew Lovely with his Haunting lyrics and classic picking style followed, and set a nice chill vibe. Just as everyone was settled in for a relaxing evening Mary Dolan came on stage with her usual explosion of energy and rocked the house. We had a brief pause as Richard from "Project Alarm" An Artist Activist Group that showed their environmental artwork, explained to the audience how they preserve and make art from nature. This was too cool just before Earth day (19April09). Tuna Boot then mosey’d on stage and impressed a friend and Special Guest in the Audience Randy Soel (Strawberry Alarm Clock) with their awesome vocals and dueling guitar work. Randy Invited them to La to Jam with Steve (Guitar player for S.A.C. and Oingo Boingo) and being that both Randy and Steve are very well connected in the International Music World this could be a nice break for Tuna Boot. During all this “Slappy Thing” was being played by Mr. Jake Allen. The way he plays his guitar is just amazing to watch and listen too! Who knew guitars could be played in such a way! Thanks Jake for giving us all something to strive for in our own playing techniques. A Beautiful Duet followed known as LMA (Tori and Barbara). Their passion and harmonies danced in the ears of all who listened. I would like to give Tori Roggeman a big “Atta Girl” for her efforts and assistance in making a great show and connecting me with “Project Alarm”! Through out the night I would mention the last performer’s name and the crowd would roar! Jason from the band Malistad capped off the night!! Although he was a last minute addition to the line up he really came through and was the perfect closing act to a great show. He even invited audience member Kevin Egan to join him and play some lead on his last song…way too cool!!! Well what more can I say. Except Thanks to all the Artists who worked hard to make this happen and to the folks that came to just to enjoy local music, I hope to see you again. The 8Teen Arts Center had a very successful Fund Raiser for homeless youth in San Diego!! I’m looking forward to seeing ya’all on Thursday night ‘s open mic which now has a featured house band,

“The Peter Ray Band” Come by and have a listen and join us at the 8Teen and just have fun……..!!!!

Thanks Again!!!!
